Behind the scenes of the WGN Morning News Food Drive

Love working with this crew every day.

Today was our third annual WGN Morning News Food Drive. From 5-10 am, so many of our viewers came out to drop off canned goods for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. 1 in 6 people in Cook County turn to their food pantries every year. Over the past few weeks, I’ve learned quite a bit about the Food Depository and how serious of an issue hunger is in our community. It was great to see some many WGN viewers and sponsors turn out. Here are some of the photos and videos I took throughout the morning.

When I took this photo, about 8 thousand pounds of food had been collected. Each one of these bins holds about 1,000 pounds of food!

The audio crew does their best to keep all of our microphones organized. Have to make sure we're all on the right channels!
