WATCH: Lady Gaga, Vince Vaughn take the Polar Plunge in Chicago

It was another star-studded affair at Chicago’s Polar Plunge. The annual event raises money for the Special Olympics, last year they took in $1 million. You may remember Mayor Rahm Emanuel and The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon diving into the frigid waters.

This year, Vince Vaughn was on the schedule to be the celebrity plunger, but surprise guest Lady Gaga and fiance Taylor Kinney showed up to take the dive as well. Together they helped the crowd raise more than $1 million dollars for the Special Olympics.

Patrick Elwood was on hand reporting for WGN News. Let’s go to the video!

FROZEN FEVER Trailer: First look at new Disney short film

0

I have probably seen FROZEN 40 times. My kids are four and two, which means I either come home to LET IT GOOOOOO or CREATURE REPORT, CREATURE REPORT – CREATUREREPORT!

I realize if you do not have children you probably have no idea what I’m talking about.

Despite the multiple viewings, FROZEN still holds up. It has this charm to it. I should be completely annoyed by now but for some reason I’m not. Cinematic magic, I guess.

We’ll see if Disney can recapture all of that with future FROZEN projects. The first is the short film FROZEN FEVER, debuting in front of CINDERELLA on March 13th. They’ve released the first FROZEN FEVER trailer – you can watch it below over and over and over and over and over and over and over….

Powerful Derrick Rose Powerade commercial features Tupac poem

0

What a powerful, perfectly-timed commercial. Just a few days after Derrick Rose suffers another setback with his knees, Powerade drops this ad that uses Tupac’s “The Rose That Grew From Concrete” as narration. Hopefully we get some good news after Rose has his surgery this morning and he’s back on the court in a few weeks even stronger. For now, check out this spot…

Dr. Seuss Gallery offers limited edition artwork

Monday will mark Dr. Seuss’s 111th birthday. He passed away in 1991, but his spirit and his work live on. We went to check out The Art of Dr. Seuss Gallery in Chicago’s Water Tower Place. It’s one of the only places you can buy authorized reproductions of Seuss’s artwork. Here are a few snaps from around the gallery…

Most of the pieces above will cost you thousands of dollars. As for the originals, those are worth millions and they’re staying in the family, so this is as close as anybody will get to owning one of them.

We’ll have more on the WGN Morning News on Monday AM! You can check out the gallery yourself HERE.

“Me and My Guy Night” 2015

My daughter’s school hosts this really cool event every year called “Me And My Guy” night. It’s a night for every student to spend some quality time with a male figure in their life. We had a blast checking out her classroom, doing some arts and crafts and eating way too much pizza and popcorn. It’s great to step back from all of the craziness of parenthood and just spend some one-on-one time with the kid. I recommend taking the time to do something like it – I wish there was more time to do it more regularly!

The biggest armoire I’ve ever seen…

We went to check out this new reclaimed furniture store in Barrington for WGN Morning News. Among all of the interesting items they had there was this HUGE, centuries-old armoire from France. We’ll be featuring this store later on this week on WGN – the story behind it is just as amazing as the items for sale.

It’s almost time for Capannari Ice Cream….

0

The awesome team at Capannari Ice Cream came into WGN to compete in our “Battle Of The Burbs,” and thankfully, they left behind a few pints of their fantastic ice cream. If you’ve never been, make it a priority to visit the family-run spot in Mount Prospect as soon as they open this March. That’s their Cake Batter ice cream above – so rich and creamy, the way God intended ice cream to be!
