Postmodern Jukebox is known for their unique spin on popular music. This time they put together a version of Radiohead’s “Creep” with former American Idol contestant and Wheeling native Haley Reinhart at the center. This isn’t her first go with Postmodern Jukebox, either. She’s also helped out with covers of Meghan Trainor and Tove Lo.
But the recent Radiohead cover is my favorite. Check it out below…
Sorry, you don’t call this dish “Chicken & Waffles” at Lincoln Park’s Batter & Berries.
They call it Cluck-N-Gaufe (Goof).
I guess it IS unfair to just say “chicken and waffles.” It’s unlike any other chicken and waffle plate I’ve ever had. It’s a sweet potato waffle that is actually stuffed with pieces of fried chicken. Don’t ask me how Chef Derek Rylon does it.
Off to the side, it comes with another fried chicken breast drizzled in a nutmeg hot sauce, and the waffle is topped with a dollop of maple butter. No syrup needed.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite breakfast spots in the city. Also try the biscuits and gravy – it’s made with chicken sausage and cheese-stuffed biscuits. The french toast flights are fantastic as well.
They open at 8am and I recommend getting there early. If not, be prepared to wait!
If you’re a coaster fan in New Jersey, you won’t have to wait through a long winter to get your fix at the end of 2015.
Six Flags Great Adventure announced they will be launching “Holiday In The Park” this winter. I know what you’re thinking – “It’s a cold park. They’ll just put up Christmas lights and try to sell me some hot chocolate while I walk around staring at all of the rides I’m not allowed to get on.”
Six areas of the park will undergo a “massive makeover” that will include millions of lights that will create a “visual feast,” plus “dazzling” holiday entertainment, Santa’s village and other holiday themes that will transform the summer park into a “winter wonderland.”
Six Flags hops to create an escape from the hustle and bustle of the holiday shopping rush in hopes that visitors will add this to their holiday traditions, the park said.
The park even pledges “the iconic smell of fresh pine and crisp peppermint filling the air,” a tree lighting ceremony and, regardless of the weather forecast, “a touch of magic will ensure that snowflakes fall gently every evening.”
“We have invested years of research into making this the most incredible and immersive seasonal experience it can be, combining holiday traditions with thrills that are uniquely Six Flags, Six Flags Great Adventure President John Fitzgerald said in the statement.
In addition to all that, 30 rides will be open (weather permitting). Coasters to expect include Nitro, Batman, Green Lantern, Superman The Dark Night and Skull Mountain. The event is planned for weekends and select dates from November-January with a lower admission price. It will be included with season passes.
Now here in Chicagoland, will we ever see an event like this come to Six Flags Great America? I’m told it’s not in the works and the numbers just aren’t there. We’ll see if that would change if this becomes a huge hit out in Jersey.
Would you ride a roller coaster in winter? I think you all know my answer to that question! Here is the promo video for “Holiday In The Park”….
If you’ve seen Alex Gibney’s “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief” documentary, the church’s “We Stand Tall” music video was probably stuck in your head for a few hours after. Well, Saturday Night Live put their spin on it this week.
Behold! The long lost Church of “Neurotology” music video….
The YouTube description says it all: “John Oliver sits down with Edward Snowden to discuss the NSA, the balance between privacy and security, and d***-pics.”
“Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” continues to be the most entertaining and substantive comedy news program on television. Sunday night, Oliver spent 30 minutes discussing the possible extension of the Patriot Act and then traveled to Russia to interview NSA leaker Edward Snowden.
Oliver has fun with the top secret nature of the interview, illustrates the threat concerning all of those x-rated selfies Americans are taking, and demonstrates how many Americans have no idea who Snowden is. But he also gets pretty tough with Snowden at times.
As TheNextWeb and others point out, during a recent press call Musk mentioned that Tesla was working on a battery technology for the home. Could they be getting into the smarthome business and ready to show off what they’re working on? We’ll find out on April 30.
I know many enthusiasts weren’t crazy about the idea of another wing coaster opening, but THUNDERBIRD looks pretty impressive. It has a launch that will take riders from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds, a 14-story Immelmann and a standard loop that soars 125 feet into the air.
Sounds fun, right?
All of this is happening at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. This past Saturday, the park tested THUNDERBIRD’s launch for the first time. The wing coaster opens to the public on April 25th. You can see the launch in the video below…..
Pixar has never been afraid to take audiences to extremely emotional places. I remember being a complete wreck the first time I saw UP, probably the only time I was thankful to be wearing 3D glasses in a movie theater. At least they served a purpose in hiding my tears.
The studio is back with another original concept with INSIDE OUT, a story that centers around all of the emotions running around inside of a young girl’s head. I can’t wait to see how they handle all of these ideas.
The movie opens on June 19th. Check out the latest INSIDE OUT trailer below….
Technical difficulties. They’ve become something of a running joke around WGN, but every television station faces them. I’m lucky to work at a place where we can make the most of them. Audio fails, prompter freak outs, video down for the count.
We went 2/3 today.
We had no prompter or video for most of our 5am hour on the WGN Morning News, and of course, my only sportscast is right in the middle of that block. So how do you do sports highlights without any of the highlights?
Matt Chewiwie – that is the name of the man who spent hours upon hours creating this piece of roller coaster brilliance. Matt is one of the many theme park enthusiasts who designs coasters using Roller Coaster Tycoon, then posts them to YouTube for the rest of our enjoyment.
This video dates back to 2013, I’m sad to say that I just discovered his work yesterday. Following the success of his “Rebecca Black: The Ride,” he has countered with “What Does The Fox Say: The Ride.” It’s an insane concept of a coaster featuring dozens of launches, a lift hill, and an estimated price tag of $1 gazillion.
There is nothing else to say other than watch the video and admire this work of pure magic….
