Listen to Taylor Swift’s new single Look What You Made Me Do

THE MOMENT HAS ARRIVED. Taylor Swift debuted her anticipated new single around midnight last night. It’s called “Look What You Made Me Do.” Fans are (obviously) loving it, and some critics are calling it a “blistering battle cry.”

Take a listen….

I will admit, at first listen I wasn’t very impressed. But after a few more spins this morning, that hook has gotten stuck in my head. What do you think about it? Taylor Swift’s full album “Reputation” drops on November 10th.

Lonely after wife’s death, 94 year-old man puts in pool for neighborhood kids

“You just can’t imagine what it’s like.”

94 year-old Keith Davison couldn’t take the quiet in his home during the months after his wife Evy passed away. The couple was married for 66 years before she lost her battle with cancer. He told KARE-TV that he cried. A lot.

Davison was tired of feeling this way, so he built an in-ground swimming pool in his backyard, all part of his plan to attract families and kids in the neighborhood. Those neighbors say his generosity has brought joy to the community.

Davison doesn’t feel quite so alone anymore.

Watch this great story from KARE’s Boyd Huppert….

New “Hamilton” app lets you enter lottery for $10 tickets

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Hamilton” is one of the best Broadway shows ever. The downside? Tickets are hard to come by. And they aren’t cheap.

Scoring affordable tickets may have just gotten easier.

Yesterday the company released the “Hamilton” app. Among the features, a chance to enter the show’s lottery for $10 tickets. Buuuuuuut….right now the Los Angeles lottery is the only one available. The website says more cities will be coming soon, though.

Other features on the app include show-related stickers you can share with your friends and family, the #HamCam that lets you take selfies and put yourself in the $10 bill, show merch and all other kinds of “Hamilton” related news.

The app is available now for iOS and Android.

Watch a train plow through a semi truck stuck on the tracks

A semi-trailer truck got stuck on some train tracks about 40 miles south of Atlanta.  An oncoming double stacked freight train came barreling through and couldn’t stop. The massive collision sent buttermint candies flying all over the place.

WSB-TV interviewed residents who said trucks get stuck on these tracks regularly. Thankfully the cargo on the train and truck wasn’t dangerous and nobody was hurt. Check out the video of the collision below….

Stupid chicken can’t quite figure out how to eat bread crust

We’ve all been there. You think you have something figured out, only to find it backfire immediately. Then, thinking that you’re really smart and just messed up the first time, you do it again. And you get the same FAIL of a result.

Enter the “Stupid Chicken” video on YouTube. I will admit, when I first saw the headline I was like – “Hey, why would you call this chicken stupid?” But then I watched the video. He’s pretty stupid.

Just watch. At least he’ll have plenty of bread necklace to eat for the next few days or so.

First ever Pokemon Go Fest plagued by technical problems

“Is Pokemon Go still a thing?”

That’s a question I get a lot. The answer is yes – just take a look at Chicago’s Grant Park this weekend. 20,000 people came together to take part in the first-ever Pokemon Go Fest. The event was billed as a celebration of the app’s one-year anniversary, promising a park full of rare Pokemon to catch to fill those gaps in your Pokedex. The only problem?

It didn’t work.

According to reports from the scene, there were cellular connection problems, and then the app itself encountered some bugs that didn’t allow people to log in. As one attendee told WGN-TV’s Sean Lewis, without the ability to log into the app, there was no point to be there.

I wasn’t at Pokemon Go Fest but I am not surprised by the cellular issues. I have covered every Lollapalooza festival in Grant Park and can say that whenever large amounts of people descend on the park, connecting to anything on your cell can become nearly impossible. Things have gotten better over the years, but I’m not surprised that many people using data to catch Pokemon became an issue.

Niantic apologized to attendees who had issues and promised a full refund of the face value ticket price. However, some people were reportedly paying hundreds of dollars to scalpers to get in – they’ll be out of luck. Registered attendees will also get in-game credits (PokeCoins) worth up to $100.

Were you in Grant Park over the weekend? What did you think of the event? Let me know in the comments or hit me up on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Here are more of the lowlights from the event…

Watch The Rock use Siri to ‘Dominate the Day’ in new Apple ad

“This plane’s going to Akron.”

“This flight is going to Rome.”

Apple debuted a new Siri ad featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson last night, in which he uses the iPhone assistant to do pretty much anything The Rock wants to do. Not surprisingly, the ad delivers some pretty humorous moments. But the bigger idea here is to get people to start using Siri for more of their every day tasks – making lists, scheduling rides, checking weather, etc.

Check out the video above. Side note: what kind of reception does The Rock get in space? I can’t get a signal north of the Wisconsin Dells.

I love our cat…even if he’s plotting my demise

I will admit, I was the hesitant one in the house when it came to getting a cat. My wife has always been all about it…but I was the one dragging my feet. But come Christmas 2015, Santa brought the kids a present courtesy PAWS Chicago North Shore.

Turns out Trig (our daughter has been wanting a cat named Trig since she was about two years old, don’t ask me why) that was for everyone else in the house….totally grew on me. In between yelling at him to get off of the counters and out of the garbage, I’ve actually grown to like this guy. I mean…how do you not enjoy a kitten that carries balloons around the house?

Over the last year or so, we’ve developed somewhat of a routine. I leave for WGN Morning News at about 2am, and many of those mornings he is right there showing me out the door, and I wake him up when I get home.

And even if I don’t understand many of the things he does….

He’s still fun to have around. But lately, I’ve gotten kind of worried. He seems to be plotting some kind of attack.

Everything I do, he seemed to be there over my shoulder. Waiting for the moment when I least suspect it.

Nothing like doing dishes while somebody is over your shoulder plotting your demise. 🙀🙀

For now, I’ll have to just keep my guard up. Wait…he’s behind me…isn’t he…..

I feel like there’s something behind me…. 🙀🙀

Seriously, though…I do love the cat. You can follow all of our adventures with Trig on my Facebook and Instagram pages.

Do you have a cat that does crazy things? I’d love to hear about it.

2CELLOS play the Game Of Thrones theme in King’s Landing

You’ll have to wait until summer for new episodes of “Game of Thrones”…but here’s something to get you excited.

The incredible 2CELLOS have recorded a “Game of Thrones” medley…and they shot the music video for it in the same Croatian spot where HBO films the King’s Landing scenes. The medley will be featured on their upcoming album “Score” that drops on March 17th.

But if you preorder it…you can download the track right now. Details here. Check out the video. These guys are awesome.

‘The Office’ Stare Machine will brighten your day

More great work on the internet – you now have a website dedicated to nothing but all of those times a character on “The Office” breaks the fourth wall and stares directly into the camera. They call it The Office Stare Machine.

Joe Sabia spent a year and a half gathering every single stare, and along with help from coder Aaron Rasmussen, they were able to organize each one into over 800 different emotions. That means you can search how you are feeling…and 700+ stares from “The Office” will be there to reflect your mood. It looks like it’s been around for a while…but I’m just hearing about it now. Some examples…

“Happy”

“Sad”

“Drunk”

“Embarrassed”

You can try it yourself at TheOfficeStareMachine.com. (h/t Mashable)
