You’ll have to wait until summer for new episodes of “Game of Thrones”…but here’s something to get you excited.
The incredible 2CELLOS have recorded a “Game of Thrones” medley…and they shot the music video for it in the same Croatian spot where HBO films the King’s Landing scenes. The medley will be featured on their upcoming album “Score” that drops on March 17th.
But if you preorder it…you can download the track right now. Details here. Check out the video. These guys are awesome.
More great work on the internet – you now have a website dedicated to nothing but all of those times a character on “The Office” breaks the fourth wall and stares directly into the camera. They call it The Office Stare Machine.
Joe Sabia spent a year and a half gathering every single stare, and along with help from coder Aaron Rasmussen, they were able to organize each one into over 800 different emotions. That means you can search how you are feeling…and 700+ stares from “The Office” will be there to reflect your mood. It looks like it’s been around for a while…but I’m just hearing about it now. Some examples…
It’s a spa. It’s a theme park. It’s a SPA-MUSEMENT PARK.
The mayor of Beppu, Japan posted this bizarre video online, featuring a concept for a new theme park / spa. It would have roller coasters with trains full of spa water. Riders would hop in the car wearing their spa towels. As the trains travel around the tracks, the warm water splashes on other visitors below.
The mayor said if the video received a million views, they would move forward with this concept. According to reports, officials have announced that they are indeed moving ahead with the project and they are asking designers to submit ideas of attractions. Take a look at the video….
How do you go about filling the roller coaster trains with the water? Will it be treated “spa water” or natural hot spring water? How will you get it into the station and refill it, assuming that much of it splashes out of the train during the ride? How do you heat it? These are all questions that need to be answered – by me – when my boss sends me to Japan to cover this very important story!
Today was our third annual WGN Morning News Food Drive. From 5-10 am, so many of our viewers came out to drop off canned goods for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. 1 in 6 people in Cook County turn to their food pantries every year. Over the past few weeks, I’ve learned quite a bit about the Food Depository and how serious of an issue hunger is in our community. It was great to see some many WGN viewers and sponsors turn out. Here are some of the photos and videos I took throughout the morning.
When I took this photo, about 8 thousand pounds of food had been collected. Each one of these bins holds about 1,000 pounds of food!

You spend enough time reading the news on television, something like this is going to happen.
WWBT anchor Eric Phillips was doing his duty reading the TelePrompTer when a story came up about a rice cooker recall. Of course, the standard TV VO would advise the audience to check their pantries, but in a mistake of excellent proportions, another word was there instead.
We haven’t learned much about what is going to happen in the upcoming “Twin Peaks” revival. But today, we got our first look.
Sort of.
Showtime released a new featurette with cast members describing what it was like to get the phone call from producers that this thing was really happening….and just how great of an experience working on the show has been. Absent are Mark Frost and David Lynch, further adding to the mystery. And yes….Jim Belushi is really a part of this thing!
It was a groundbreaking moment. Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem made their LIVE festival debut over the weekend.
You may know them as the Muppets band. I know them as the creators of that song I listened to over and over and over as a kid. I’m not sure if you can ruin a vinyl record by over-listening, but I put that to the test with “Can You Picture That” from “The Muppet Movie” soundtrack.
Anyways, it took long enough, but the band finally put on a live show at the Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco. I hope this leads to a bigger tour. Watch the full set below!
The Dallas Zoo posted this video of its two month-old baby elephant taking its first dip into a kiddie pool. The elephant calf was born to its Mom Mlilo on May 14th. ENJOY…..
