Reaction: Bears lose to Dolphins, frustration grows in locker room

0

The Bears couldn’t lose ANOTHER game at home, right? I mean, they haven’t lost three straight games to start a season since 2004.

Whoops.

The Dolphins were in control for most of their 27-14 win at Soldier Field. Once again, the much-hyped Bears offense couldn’t get it together and the fans let the players hear it.

That didn’t go over well.

After the game, reporters waiting to get into the Bears locker room heard some commotion….

Meanwhile, both the Packers and the Lions won yesterday, putting the Bears even further back in the division race. With road games against the Patriots and the Packers coming up – are we looking at a 3-6 football team? Not good. Here’s more Bears reaction….

– Adam Hoge says it’s fair to start questioning Marc Trestman’s leadership skills.

– Brad Biggs on the Bears loss and Brandon Marshall calling it “unacceptable.”

– Steve Rosenbloom says the Bears would be the stars of Clown College.

Apple Event Recap: Apple Pay date, new iPads, iMacs revealed

0

Start saving this weekend, because you’ll be able to start spending your Apple money on Monday!

It was Apple Event 2.0 Day, 2014. The company held another live event, this one at its Cupertino headquarters, to unveil a few more products hitting stores this year and a launch date for one of their newest features – Apple Pay.

CEO Tim Cook announced that starting October 20th, iPhone users will be able to download iOS 8.1, an update that will allow iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users to use their new mobile payment system. Using an NFC chip inside the phone, you’ll be able to place your iPhone right onto a sensor at participating stores and confirm your payment with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Apple has partnered with Visa, American Express and MasterCard to link users credit cards to the Apple Pay service.

In addition, Apple unveiled a new line of iPads. Here is a quick rundown…

iPad Air 2

IPAD AIR 2

It’s thinner (18% slimmer), lighter (15 ounces), has a better resolution (2048 x 1536 pixels), takes a better picture (8MP camera, 1.2MP front camera), has a fingerprint sensor (Touch ID) and comes in new colors (silver, gold, space gray). All of that will cost you $499 and up, depending on the memory size you choose.

iPad Mini 3

IPAD MINI 3

Not as big an overhaul as the Air, the new Mini features the Touch ID and an upgraded 5MP camera. It starts at $399.

iMac with Retina Display

APPLE IMAC

Here’s where things get kind of interesting. The new display on the desktop iMac looks like something special. They’re calling it a Retina 5K display with an impressive 5120 x 2880 pixel resolution. To put that into perspective, 1080i HDTV resolution is 1920 x 1080. The newer Ultra HD, 4K resolution is generally 3840 x 2160. That puts the 27-inch iMac display well ahead of all of them.

The new iMac will start at $2,499.99, but it makes you wonder. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a television set with that resolution at that price point?

No Apple TV Update? What Gives?!

APPLE TV

Speaking of television, for those of who hoping for an overhaul of the Apple TV streaming system, today wasn’t your day. With all of the talk about streaming services this week, you’d think it would have been the perfect time to announce an Apple TV upgrade – but no luck. Maybe they’re holding out for a bigger TV announcement, or maybe they’re just not focused on it right now. However, with more and more television viewers opting to cut the chord, it seems like Apple’s interest in the area would continue to grow.

More on the announcement from around the web…

– Mashable has “Everything You Need To Know About The iPad Event”

– The Verge offers the “8 Most Important Announcements From The Apple iPad Event”

– Techcrunch thinks Apple announced “Too Many iPads”

– Re/Code also wonders if the new iMac display foreshadows an Apple television set.

Watch ‘Star Wars’ fans recreate ‘The Empire Strikes Back’

It took 480 “Star Wars” fans sending in more than 1,500 submissions recreating different scenes from “The Empire Strikes Back.” Now they have all been assembled into one long version – the entire film recreated shot for shot. From the YouTube description…

The project launched in 2013, with fans claiming 15-second scenes to reimagine as they saw fit – resulting in sequences created with everything from action figures to cardboard props to stunning visual effects. Helmed by Casey Pugh, who oversaw 2010’s Emmy-winning Star Wars Uncut, the new film has a wonderful homemade charm, stands as an affectionate tribute to The Empire Strikes Back, and is a testament to the talent, imagination, and dedication of Star Wars fans.

Report: Apple’s giant iPads could be delayed until 2015

0

apple ipadIn case you missed it, the latest Apple rumors say the company is going bigger with the iPad – think 12.9 inches bigger.

But if you were hoping to get a tablet the size of your MacBook Pro this Christmas, you won’t be happy with a report in the Wall Street Journal. The paper says production on the new iPads could be delayed until next year due to demand for the new iPhone 6 models…..

Suppliers of the Cupertino, Calif., company had originally planned to produce the larger iPad in mass volume beginning in December, the people said.

“The top priority for the supply chain is to meet the overwhelming demand for the larger screen iPhones. The output of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus remains unsatisfactory,” said a person at a supplier. “It would be challenging for display makers to split resources and spend a few months to ramp up production for a new larger screen iPad now.”

Apple is holding an event on October 16 where they’re expected to unveil the new iPad models. You can read the full report in the Wall Street Journal HERE.
