Principal parodies Mariah Carey to announce snow day with hilarious video

They are the two words every kid loves to hear – SNOW DAY. One principal in Kentucky decided to take things even further.

Union Pointe Academy Principal Chad Caddell went outside into the elements, fired up the smartphone and decided to SING the news to his students and parents – and he did it all to the tune of Mariah Carey’s “Hero.”

You can tell this man loves his job. Since it was shared on the school’s Facebook page yesterday the video has been shared 2,000 times and has racked up about 400,000 views.

Bears hire Matt Nagy: What the experts are saying about the new head coach

Ryan Pace made his choice.

Just one week after announcing the firing of John Fox, the Chicago Bears have made it official – former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy will be the 16th head coach in franchise history. Nagy took over the play calling duties from Chiefs head coach Andy Reid this season and had some success. We’re going to be hearing a lot about Nagy over the next few days, here is some of the early reaction to the announcement.

First we go to Kansas City, where the consensus seems to be that this was a great move by the Bears. Here’s a post from the Kansas City Star calling it a “smart move” and that Nagy is “one of the best head coaching candidates Reid has had in Kansas City (better than the Eagles’ Doug Pederson):”

“What Bears fans should really like is Nagy’s creativity and knack for calling plays. Since he took over as the primary playcaller for coach Andy Reid in early December, the Chiefs’ offense came alive again after a miserable two-month slump, as Nagy consistently dialed up the zone-running plays they used to so much success earlier this season. Nagy is a sharp guy who also increased the reliance on run-pass options that Smith likes so much and cut down the “trick-ya” plays the offense had grown too fond of.”

The MMQB has a piece on what Nagy’s hiring could mean for Mitchell Trubisky:

“Let’s assume Nagy’s philosophy is similar to that of the only NFL boss he’s ever known, Andy Reid, who brought Nagy into the NFL as an Eagles intern in 2008. In that case, the Bears will run a highly schemed West Coast-style offense, with multiple moving pieces built into the same play design. It’s a great fit for Mitchell Trubisky, whose NFL success will hinge predominantly on timing and rhythm throws.”

ESPN’s David Kaplan says Nagy loved what he saw from Mitchell Trubisky going into the 2017 NFL Draft….

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen says Nagy will be the one calling the plays in Chicago:

Who is Matt Nagy? Chiefs.com has a great long read about how he got to where he is in his coaching career at just 39 years old. It’s a Kurt Warner-esque story – he was selling real estate at one point to provide for his family.

Pro Football Weekly has more details on how Ryan Pace made sure he got his man and what kind of scheme Nagy made run in Chicago:

“Looking at the Kansas City offense what should be exciting to Bears fans is the extensive use of RPOs (run-pass option plays). Kansas City incorporated RPOs because of quarterback Alex Smith’s outstanding athleticism. While Trubisky was at North Carolina that is the type of offense he was in. Nagy’s offense should fit well with Trubisky’s skill set.”

Arrowhead Pride has more on how the Chiefs offense changed when Nagy started calling plays there:

“Combine the RPOs, the build off of those RPOs, the playception I wrote about this week, and the vertical passing game, and the Chiefs had more control on offense than they’ve had in a while. And enough explosive plays to make a Madden game self destruct. Nagy did an excellent job of stressing defenses in a lot of different ways, and in more space. The success they had was a result of that.”

Duck lands on ice, slides into your heart

Duck lands on ice. This video really needs no introduction.

It’s a duck coming in hot for a landing on a frozen pond. He slides yet manages to stop short of disaster with other ducks.

It looks like the video originated from here about a year ago, but it was posted by the Nature is Amazing Twitter account yesterday and has racked up more than 1 million views.

But really, it needs no introduction. I give you – duck lands on ice LOOOOOOOK OUUUUUUUUUUUUUT!

WATCH: Cars frozen in floodwaters after East Coast snow storm

Living in the Chicago area all of my life, I thought I had pretty much seen it all when it comes to winter storms. I have shoveled my car out of feet of snow….walked through the city as thundersnow was crashing overhead….but THIS is a new one.

As the major snow storm came through coastal Massachusetts this week, floodwaters poured into neighborhoods. The problem? Cold weather turned all of that water into ice, freezing any cars parked on the street in place.

Check out some of the videos of cars frozen in floodwaters around that area. At this point, I guess you just wait until a thaw to deal with your car? Brutal.

Watch Justin Timberlake’s FILTHY video featuring a futuristic dancing robot

Earlier this week, we told you about Justin Timberlake’s new album MAN OF THE WOODS. The trailer had JT running around bonfires, through cornfields, out in the elements. Pharrell Williams is on the trailer saying how “earthy” everything feels. I was expecting some kind of country vibe from his new music.

Or….

A futuristic dancing robot.

Last night Timberlake debuted his new single FILTHY and the reaction seems to be all over the place this morning. I will say that when I first watched it, I wasn’t sold on the song….but the more I’ve played it this morning, the more I’m digging it. FILTHY lacks a radio-friendly hook and stays in a steady groove that just falls over you. Again, it’s so against what I was expecting from this new album that it caught me off guard.

Checkout the FILTHY video here and scroll down for some of the reaction that was hitting Twitter this morning…

Here is some of the reaction coming in….

David Duchovny auditioned for all three roles on FULL HOUSE

We all know him as Fox Mulder on “The X-Files.” But if things went a little bit differently in the 1980’s, things would have been dramatically different.

Last night David Duchovny was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live promoting the latest season of “The X-Files” reboot when one interesting story came up. Just a year or two before he landed that iconic part, David Duchovny auditioned for all three roles on FULL HOUSE. That’s right…”Full House.” And he auditioned for each of the three male leads. Could you see Duchovny as an Uncle Jesse? Danny Tanner? Joey? Thankfully that never happened.

He goes on to talk about “The X-Files” casting director convincing him to back out of another project and how that decision changed his life forever. I love stories like this.

Justin Timberlake releases trailer for new album Man of the Woods

Justin Timberlake is headlining the Super Bowl halftime show this year….and now he’ll have a new album to promote as well.

Timberlake dropped a teaser trailer for the new album on his Twitter account this morning. It’s called Man of the Woods. He says the album is inspired by his son, his wife, his family and where he is from. Will that mean a new sound for JT? Not sure…but in the trailer Pharrell says it “sounds so earthy.” Hmmmm.

The album drops on February 2nd just ahead of Timberlake’s Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday, February 4th. Check out the trailer below…..

Watch the Foo Fighters Christmas Medley on Saturday Night Live

If you’re not quite feeling in the Christmas sprit yet, this should get you there.

Foo Fighters were the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night. For their last set of the show, they threw on the holiday sweaters and put together an incredible mashup of Everlong, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) and Linus and Lucy from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

If you can believe it, this was Foo Fighters EIGHTH time appearing on SNL. And it will no doubt be one of their most memorable.

Here it is….the Foo Fighters Christmas Medley. Enjoy!

Earlier in the show, they performed The Sky is a Neighborhood, the second single from their new album Concrete and Gold….

And while we’re here, let’s revisit that story about Christopher Walken asking Dave Grohl how to properly pronounce Foo FIGHTERS…..

That never gets old. Merry Christmas.

Chris Pratt and Chris Stapleton sing ‘(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life’

Jimmy Kimmel is taking the week off from his show to care for his 7 month-old son who went through a second successful heart surgery. Chris Pratt was the week’s first guest host, and lucky for him, the musical guest was Chris Stapleton.

The two guys performed a duet at one of Stapleton’s shows in Nashville back in October, so last night, they decided to do it again. After spinning the “Wheel of Cheesy Duets,” a legendary song from “Dirty Dancing” popped up.

So here you go, probably the best video you will see today. Chris Pratt and Chris Stapleton sing “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” Complete with the lift at the end. Sort of.

Enjoy…
