Most People Doing Lunges: A WGN Morning News World Record?

lunging record

You never know what you’re going to be doing when you walk into the doors here at WGN.

After the morning show fell short of the world record for “Most People Doing Lunges” last year, the team decided to give it another go. I was actually around to be a part of it this time around and it was an absolute blast. By the time the horn sounded, you couldn’t hear anything in the garage. It was like watching INTERSTELLAR. Check it out….

It was great to meet so many viewers here at the station today. I appreciate each and every one of you who watch our show. Without your support, I wouldn’t be able to do the things that I do and tell the stories that I tell every day. If you were out here today, make sure you tag me in any photos @MarcusLeshock on Twitter and I’ll post them up here on my blog!

@marcusleshock pumped about that record setting performance! Nick is doing “one eye” #WGNlunges   A photo posted by Edmund Cruz (@edmundcruz) on

GODZILLA BATTLE ROYALE is the best Godzilla fan film ever

godzilla chicago

I can’t say I’m the biggest expert on these things, but this 90-minute Godzilla fan film is just all kinds of awesome.

On this today’s WGN Morning News, I went to visit Elmhurst’s Billy DuBose. He’s a marketing assistant as National Lift Company, but in his spare time over the last four years, he was hard at work in his garage – directing a feature-length fan film featuring his favorite movie monster.

Godzilla.

We talked with both Billy and costume designer / suit actor Jacob Baker in the very garage where much of the green screen work on “Godzilla Battle Royale” was shot. They told us all about the hard work they put into the film, designing their own costumes, and why Godzilla means so much to them.

The movie is premiering tonight at the Pickwick Theater in Park Ridge. Here is more info….

Nik Wallenda conquers Chicago Skyscraper Live (VIDEO)

SKYCRAPER LIVE

It took two hours of television, but only eight minutes of walking for Nik Wallenda to conquer the Chicago River from hundreds of feet above.

All of the hype, the speculation, the controversy (HOW COULD THEY LET HIM DO THIS WITHOUT A NET?!) – it all came to an end on Sunday when Wallenda completed his latest challenge with confidence.

Discovery Channel aired the feat live. They put together a highlight video in case you missed it. Check it out below.

TRAILER: “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever” is happening

GRUMPY CAT TRAILER

I suspect most people make a Grumpy Cat face when they watch Lifetime Movies.

The network will be airing a Grumpy Cat Christmas movie this season, and we have the first trailer. The cat is voiced by Aubrey Plaza of “Parks and Recreation” fame. I’m not sure the voice is a great match, but I really don’t feel like I’m enough of an expert to have a great opinion on these matters.

Check out the trailer below. “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever” premieres Saturday, November 29th at 7pm on Lifetime.

First official FURIOUS 7 trailer is insane, obviously

FURIOUS 7 TRAILER

It must be fun for the people behind these “Fast the the Furious” movies to find new ways to out-do themselves. In the first look at the latest film, “Furious 7,” we see cars, with drivers, parachuting from a giant cargo plane for some reason. Of course it all works to plan and stuff blows up real good.

As much fun as this movie should be, it will be hard to watch Paul Walker in one of his last roles. I’ve talked with quite a few actors over my years as an entertainment reporter – he was one of the most considerate and interesting people I’ve met. Still can’t believe he’s gone.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train catches fire at Walt Disney World

0

A small fire broke out on one of Walt Disney World’s high-profile new attractions last night, but it reportedly had nothing to do with the ride or its operation system. The incident happened on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom. According to a spokesperson from the park, fireworks were to blame. From CNN

Embers from fireworks at Magic Kingdom ignited a small fire at Disney World’s latest ride, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, on Saturday night.

The fire was quickly put out, and no one was hurt, a Disney spokeswoman said. The nightly fireworks had just ended when embers landed on the building outside the attraction about 10:30 p.m., igniting the fire, the spokeswoman said.

The good news – nobody was hurt, the  roller coaster wasn’t affected and it reopened for riding around midnight last night. Here are some of the images and videos from Magic Kingdom visitors…..

Apparently, the world’s largest corn maze is located at Cool Patch Pumpkins in Dixon, California. How big is it? 63 acres. No, HOW BIG IS IT?! It’s SO big, people are getting trapped inside and calling the owner to help get them out.

Oh, wait. No they’re not.

According to KMAX-TV, visitors stuck in world’s largest corn maze are calling 911 for help.

Sigh.

Here’s the story….

Seth Rogen may play Steve Wozniak in new Steve Jobs movie

This coming from The Wrap – Seth Rogen is being courted to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in the upcoming Steve Jobs movie. The screenplay was written by Aaron Sorkin, it takes place during the moments before Jobs unveiled some of Apple’s milestone products. Jessica Chastain could also be joining the cast…..

While neither Chastain nor Rogen have deals in place, the latter actor is in talks to play Wozniak, who created the Apple I computer and co-created the Apple II computer in the mid-1970s.

Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady are producing the film, which Sony has high hopes for, as it could be a major awards contender.

While it’s not official, I love Rogen for this. With Danny Boyle on board to direct and Christian Bale starring as Jobs, I can’t think of a movie I’m looking forward to seeing more.

OK Go is a human Lite-Brite in ‘I Won’t Let You Go’ video

OK GO VIDEO

Say what you will about OK Go’s music, these guys know how to market themselves through the music video. There was the treadmill video, the Rube Goldberg machine, and now this.

Their video for “I Won’t Let You Go” has the band spinning in and outside of a building on robotic unicycles, before adding a ton of people, a bunch of colors, some drone photography and a big reveal.

If only the music were as memorable as the videos.

Oh, well. Just watch and enjoy this feat of video production…
